Visitor Information Counsellor Courtney imagines a perfect family picnic outing:
I wake up refreshed with ideas for the day ahead. I need some more time to rejuvenate, kick back and relax in nature. Somewhere I can take the family. The day slowly reveals itself. I pad to the kitchen and whip up snacks to go, a couple of backpacks and plenty of water. The kids slap on some sun screen and we’re off.
“Where are we going mom?” Sarah asks. It’s Sunday and she knows that means it’s a day for family.
We pull up to Kin Park and I lay out a couple of blankets to settle back and wait. My husband runs out to into the field with two energetic kids zig zagging a soccer ball between them. Their laughter and teasing remarks fill the air. My husband plays goalie and I play supportive cheerleader.
